IEC 62368-1 Global Implementation Overview

May, 2022 – Since the IEC 62368-1 standard “Audio/video, information, and communication technology equipment – Part 1: Safety requirements” came into effect, more and more countries or regions have transitioned, or are in the process of transitioning, to IEC 62368-1 standard. The IT/AV products do not fall into the mandatory scope of safety certification in the following countries/regions: Vietnam, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Colombia, Costa Rica, Uruguay and El Salvador.

Note (*):

  • The naming of the 62368-1 standard varies from country to country. It is collectively referred to as IEC 62368-1 in this article
  • The local deviation test must be considered if the IEC 62368-1 standard is acceptable
  • Philippines: The local standard PNS IEC 62368-1:2017 corresponding to IEC62368-1 Edition 2.0 has been published but not fallen into the mandatory scope
  • Thailand: TISI decided on April 26 to include TIS62368 in the scope of mandatory standards, and it will be announced on the official website within one month. The transition period after the announcement is 180 days. Products covered by the new standard will need to apply for a TISI certificate to enter the Thai market. The transition period for power adapters for computers and tablets is 480 days
